The forum was established by 20 senior vascular surgeons during a meeting held in Alexandria, Egypt, in November 2006. The group aimed to enhance understanding of venous diseases in terms of their pathology and management, promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge across multiple specialties—including hematology, chest medicine, radiology, clinical pathology, dermatology, and others—through evidence-based discussions, disseminate knowledge to junior phlebology fellows, and conduct educational and outreach activities within the community.
